FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

It depends. For many students taking the bar exam for the first time, a bar preparation course may be sufficient. However, many first time bar takers do benefit from a personalized, custom one-on-one experience. This is especially true if a preparation course was not sufficient and the student is now taking the exam another time.

Do I need a tutor for the bar exam?

We are well versed in the law covered on the bar examination. The student's knowledge of the substantive law will be tested through practice essays and multiple choice questions, as well as past results. Any areas determined to be weaknesses will be reviewed in more detail to enable the student to master the law and any subject can be reviewed in greater detail at the student's request.

Does tutoring include a substantive review of the law?

A program is developed based on the individual student's needs. The emphasis is on making sure the student understands the foundational law of each tested subject and then practicing essays and multiple choice questions. This will help the student develop both the foundation and strategy needed to achieve a passing result.

Prior to each session, students are assigned a number of essays and/or multiple choice questions to prepare. Essays are to be emailed no less than 48 hours before the session, and the essays are marked and graded so that the student is able to see first hand where s/he is gaining and/or losing points. The essays are then reviewed during the session. Multiple choice questions are reviewed one-on-one, and the student is taken through questions to understand what subject was tested and why the student incorrectly answered, as well as strategy tips for each question.

How does tutoring work?

There is no minimum or maximum time required to meet. The number of hours spent depends on an individual’s needs and the amount of time the student wants to spend with the tutor.

To receive the best improvement, it is recommended to meet at least once to twice per week for one to two hours per session to practice essays or multiple choice questions, or review substantive law.

How often do I meet with the tutor?

When you hire One & Done Bar Exam Tutoring, you know that the attorney you are working with has sat through multiple bar examinations herself and tutored law school subjects during law school as well as bar exam subjects for over 5 years.

Other courses use tutors who have been practicing for extremely long periods of time and have not sat through any bar exams recently. The bar exam has changed and evolved in recent years. Therefore, you can be confident that your tutor has sat through three bar exams and passed them all on the first try, all within the past few years.

Why hire One & Done?
